Daniel Berrigan is a Catholic priest associated with peace and social justice movements throughout his life. A believer in non-violent civil disobedience, he has been arrested and imprisoned numerous times. He is most noted for his leadership of opposition to the Viet Nam war, but his work did not begin or end there.

The brothers Daniel Berrigan (born 1921) and Philip Berrigan (born 1923) have both been prominent in resistance to racial segregation, to U.S. involvement in the Vietnam war, and to the production of nuclear weapons. Philip Berrigan, a former Josephite priest, and Daniel, a Jesuit priest, poet, playwright, and teacher, are both lecturers and civil disobedience activists.

Daniel Berrigan, S.J. (1921-) Roman Catholic priest, peace activist, poet. Philip Berrigan (1923-2002), peace activist, author, former Roman Catholic priest; served in World War II; m. Elizabeth McAlister. Both brothers protested the Vietnam War and were active in various peace, antiwar, and civil rights movements, including the Plowshares movement. Both were for a time on the FBI Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list for acts of vandalism including destruction of government property.
